FAQ

"THE QUESTION IS NOT WHO IS GOING TO LET ME, RATHER WHO IS GOING TO STOP ME!"

FAQ: FAQ

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MUAY THAI, KICKBOXING AND BOXING?

All three of these are striking arts but they differ in the types of strikes used. In Muay Thai, strikes are produced by the hands, feet, knees and elbows. Muay Thai also includes clinch work. Kickboxing focuses on striking using the hands and feet and simple knee strikes. The types of kicks also vary, such as the addition of spinning kicks. Boxing is an art that uses exclusively hands. There is a large emphasis on footwork as well.

DO I HAVE TO BE AN ATHLETE TO TRAIN AT GLORY TRAINING CENTRE?

At Glory, we consider any person who dedicates themselves to an exercise program an athlete, regardless of age or athletic background! We do not separate classes based on skill level. We encourage all skill levels to work with one another and learn from each other. Fundamentals can never be practiced too much!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WOMEN'S KICKBOXING AND CO-ED CLASSES?

The women's only classes place a larger emphasis on kickboxing for fitness. In both classes proper technique is taught but there is more emphasis placed on advanced skill and development of technique in the co-ed classes.

CAN I TRAIN TO COMPETE?

Yes! At Glory Training Centre, there are many opportunities to compete at many different levels. We compete in point/speed fighting, semi-contact and full contact matches. A coach, will determine the readiness of a figher and set up a match accordingly.

DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT TO START?

During your first month at Glory, we have all of the necessary equipment that you would need to be able to participate in classes. Eventually, it is highly recommended that you purchase your own equipment. We will help you get what you need! Higher quality, at a lower cost!

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING IS NEEDED TO PARTICIPATE?

For both the co-ed and children's programs, thai shorts, hand wraps, gloves and shin guards are needed. During sparring days mouth guards are needed as well as groin protection for males. Any shirt may be worn. In the women's only classes any athletic attire is suitable.

**Note that all classes are done barefoot on the mats!

HOW MUCH IS THE MONTHLY COST?

Please contact Glory for membership prices. Costs vary depending on the class. Family discounts are given if multiple members sign up. Please note we do not have long term contracts and membership options can be changed month to month.
